Georgia Barr
We caught up with Mickelson National Golf Club member, Brett Jones, after his final round 63 gave him back to back Alberta Amateur titles. Jones finished at -17 and won by an incredible 12 strokes and his final round included 8 birdies, an eagle, and just 2 bogeys.

Georgia: What was your mindset going into the event? Was it different playing as the defending champion?
Brett: My mindset as the defending champion was to play the best golf I could possibly play and not worry about the results. Just have fun and play good golf.
Georgia: What went well this week to produce the scores you did?
Brett: I was focused on talking it a shot at a time, practicing, and focusing a lot on the week.
Georgia: What did you learn this week? How will you be using what you learned moving forward especially at the Mickelson National Invitational next week (MNI)?
Brett: I learned I could take it really low and I will be taking this as motivation to help me produce low scores at the MNI and future rounds.

Georgia: Is your round of 63 on the last round your best tournament score?
Brett: Yes, 63 is my lowest tournament score, but not my personal best. My personal best score was 59.
Georgia: Regardless of the huge lead you had throughout the third round, how did you keep your cool and remain calm?
Brett: I took it one shot at a time, and wasn’t focused on winning. I was just focused on each shot ahead of me and this helped me produce good scores.

We wish Brett well at the Mickelson National Invitational next week as well as for the rest of the golf season.
