The 2025 season will be remembered as one of the most groundbreaking years in Canadian amateur golf history. From NCAA triumphs to national championship sweeps, Canadian golfers showed the world what determination, talent, and true north grit are all about. Let’s take a look back at an unforgettable year.

Great Performances on the NCAA Stage

Canadian collegiate golf reached new heights in the U.S. this year, highlighted by firsts and dominant wins across every level.

  • Vanessa Borovilos, in just her freshman year, thrilled spectators with her first collegiate victory at the Chevron Collegiate in Houston, Texas.

  • Lauren Kim made her mark in Austin, Texas, winning the Betsy Rawls Invitational, earning her the title of SEC Golfer of the Week.

  • Vanessa Zhang delivered brilliance at the Ivy League Championship, winning individually, setting records, and advancing to NCAA Regionals. She also added victories at both the Lady Blue Hen Invitational and the Quinnipiac Classic.

  • Carys Code claimed the Division III National Championship individual title, then led Emory University to the team championship as well, completing a rare double win.

  • Grace Bell etched her name in UBC history as the first-ever Thunderbird to win an NCAA Division I individual title, capturing the 2025 Wigwam Preview on the Gold Course at Wigwam GCC in Litchfield, Arizona.

Trailblazers Making History

The year was charged with monumental wins for Canadian golf:

  • Aphrodite Deng became the first Canadian EVER to win the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship — a moment that will forever be etched in the archives of Canadian amateur golf. Her year only got better — at just 15, she won the AJGA Mizuho Americas Open and played the final round alongside World No. 1 Nelly Korda. She finished her season as Canada’s first-ever Rolex Junior Player of the Year — another first for the record books.

  • 14-year-old Clara Ding stunned the field, winning the BC Women’s Open and earning an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open next August.

  • Shauna Liu posted a statement win at the Nelly Invitational, earning an exemption into the 2026 Chevron Championship, and added a comeback win at the Glencoe Invitational.

  • Nicole Gal claimed the prestigious Porter Cup 2025 Championship.

  • Brandon Markiw won the Glencoe Invitational Men’s Amateur division with steady play: 70-69-71 (-6).
